About Dandelion Geothermal

Dandelion is a fast growing startup out of Google X, Alphabet’s research lab. Our mission is to make geothermal energy the easiest, most affordable way heat and cool the home. The team brings together leadership experience from X, SolarCity, Tesla, and Sungevity to disrupt an industry that has seen very little innovation over the past 100 years. You’ll be joining an early stage company with fewer than 30 people on the team with the opportunity to influence the future of heating from the ground up.

Description of Role

The Director of Talent Acquisition will report to the CEO and have responsibility for the full range of talent acquisition activities and across the company. They will build a world-class talent organization, and develop the plans, metrics and processes to drive that organization to accelerating success.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Role creation: job descriptions, scorecards, etc.  Partner with talent leaders to specify roles and drive a disciplined process for making sure every time we start an interview process everyone involved is alignedas to what the role means, and what kind of candidate we are looking for
  • Sourcing: bringing great candidates in to meet with our team is crucial. Sourcing at Dandelion means:
    • Internal/referrals: for a young company like ours, internally sourced/referral candidates are the lifeblood of the sourcing process. Work with our senior management and across the company to find great employees from our networks.
    • Direct Sourcing: build a team both internal and external of sourcers to find candidates using up-to-date technology tools and techniques
    • Search firms: manage the use of search firms for our most senior hires. We use these sparingly, but appropriately.
    • Advertising: work with our marketing team to ensure that our recruiting brand is well represented and well defined.
  • Evaluating: Lead the company in delivering a world-class interview process, both for evaluating candidates and providing them a great experience. When it comes to evaluation we care about and have used at various times everything from top grades, mid-stream check, day-of debrief, personality tests, back channel references, and more. Help us do it right.
  • Closing: nothing matters if you can’t close the deal! Help us deliver a truly differentiated offer process, wooing candidates to join us, selling the value of our equity, and more.
  • Talent Team and process: We do it all with great people and software, and we will count on you to build up a great team or recruiters and sourcers, and make the right choices for software and processes to run all of our recruiting efforts.
  • Hitting the numbers: it all sums up to building an amazing company with amazing people, and doing it on pace to allow us to grow at the meteoric rate we are at.  

About You

  • 8+ years in-house recruiting experience
  • Education: BA degree, preferably from top-ranked university
  • Experience hiring and leading a team of 10 or more
  • Demonstrated ability to hit staffing targets
  • Experience building a recruiting brand
  • Experience with selecting and managing an applicant tracking system
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects/priorities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Knowledge of compensation, general HR requirements, and work visas
