Public Informational & Sustainability Event Helps Long Islanders Become Energy Independent at Home

The event is an opportunity for climate and cost-conscious Long Island residents to learn about the most efficient and sustainable options for conditioning and powering their homes as well as the utility rebates and tax credits are available to them.

Long Island residents have demonstrated a strong commitment and prolific interest in renewable energy solutions. While national solar panel installations decreased by 16 percent by 2022, Long Island’s installations increased by 19 percent, totaling 8,111 new systems installed last year. Similarly, Long Island homeowners have responded enthusiastically to Dandelion opening operations on the Island in mid-2021. Nearly 6,000 Long Island homeowners have entered their information into Dandelion’s online portal. Thirty-five homeowners on Long Island have signed a contract and will soon have a new geothermal system heating and cooling their homes.
